Schools Outreach Programme - Year 2

Building for the Future

How does the programme work?

  •  Our highly qualified and experienced coaches come into the school during curriculum time to offer Year 2 children ball-skills and hand-eye coaching
  •  The coaches work with the children in 1-hour sessions once-per-week for 4 weeks
  •  2 coaches usually come to each session and with the help of the class teacher are able to give the children lots of individual help
  •  All children are encouraged, and we pay particular attention the ones who find it the most difficult
  •  Subsidised exit routes are provided for every single child. This will include opportunities such as after-school clubs, taster sessions at the tennis centre and free Mini Tennis lessons
  •  Talented children are offered the opportunity to join our Tennis Academy
  •  With Clubmark & Satellite Performance accreditation, every child who joins our coaching programme is offered excellent advancement opportunities

Around 550 children in 9 local infant schools receive curriculum coaching each year. The schools are:

  •  Marchwood
  •  Hazelwood
  •  Lydlynch
  •  Calmore
  •  Orchard
  •  Foxhills
  •  Oakfield
  •  Netley Marsh
  •  Eling

Other initiatives with Infant Schools include: whole school festivals at the tennis centre; specific holiday activity for younger children; after-school clubs; and much more.
