Secondary & Tertiary Outreach Programme

Through our excellent links with Testwood Specialist Sports College in Totton, we have been able to introduce a large number of young teenagers into tennis, many of whom are incredibly sporty and have gained fantastic ball and coordination skills from other sports. Our partnership with the college combined with our Community Coach grant has allowed us to offer fantastic opportunities to the local youth.

We also have a strong relationship with Applemore Technology College in Dibden and provide coaching opportunties such as coaching at the tennis centre and a playground presence during the Summer at the school.

We also work closely with Noadswood and Hounsdown Schools, particularly during the Summer months.

The final stage of our schools programme involves the tertiary sector, specifically Totton College. This link allows us to provide coaching opportunities for the students as well as links with the adult education department. We are currently investigating the possiblity of creating a Tennis Academy at the college, whilst the vocational skills developed by BTEC students provide us with a fascinating pool of students to consider for our Tennis Apprentice scheme.

Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of working within this sector of education is that many of the children remember receiving coaching from us whilst they were back in junior school! This provides a neat cycle of tennis development
