Secondary & Tertiary Outreach Programme

Through our excellent links with New Forest School-Sport Partnership, we have been able to introduce a large number of young teenagers into tennis, many of whom are incredibly sporty and have gained fantastic ball and coordination skills from other sports. This ongoing partnership has produced a Community Tennis Coach who offers fantastic opportunities to the local youth.

Every Summer the Totton & Eling Tennis Centre plays host to around 50 children competing in the New Forest Year 7/8 Schools Tournament.

The final stage of our schools programme involves the tertiary sector, specifically Totton College. This link allows us to provide coaching opportunities for the students as well as links with the adult education department. We are currently investigating the possiblity of creating a Tennis Academy at the college, whilst the vocational skills developed by BTEC students provide us with a fascinating pool of students to consider for our Tennis Apprentice scheme.

Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of working within this sector of education is that many of the children remember receiving coaching from us whilst they were back in junior school! This provides a neat cycle of tennis development
