Clash of the Clubs

On Saturday 17th May 2007, the Totton & Eling Mini Tennis Red team competed in the first ever Clash of the Clubs event at Fleming Park. The Totton team of Matthew Crowe and Adele Nethercott did fantastically well, eventually coming second out of a total of 18 clubs! Well done to them both!

Save The Children Tournament

On Sunday 4th May Totton and Eling Tennis Centre held a mixed doubles tennis tournament in aid of Save the Children. A total of £450 was raised from a combination of entry fees, tombola and BBQ. Thank you to everybody who contributed.

The event was won by Andy Macey and Katie Judd who now go on to the Regional Final.

The runners up on the day were Mike Bevan and Alison Eldridge.

Adult Tournament

The Totton & Eling Tennis Centre hosted its first ever open adult singles tournament during the week 7th-12th April 2008. The event had 8 lady and 21 male participants, making it a very well supported occasion. The tournament was aimed at regular club tennis players and was organised in a format that allowed participants to compete against players of a similar standard.

Trophies and champagne for the winners were provided by the local authority, Totton & Eling Town Council, whilst presentations on Finals Day were made by Councillor David Hibbert.

Councillor Hibbert commented: "The atmosphere during the week was incredibly warm and positive and the participants seemed to really enjoy the experience. I am always pleasantly surprised at the amount of local talent that there is around."

The ladies' event was won by Carolyn Cummings-Osmond from the Totton & Eling Tennis Centre, who defeated Sarah Delmege from Fleming Park Tennis Centre.

The men's event was won by Mark Eden from Alverstoke Tennis Club, with the runner-up being Jeremy Baldwin from Totton & Eling Tennis Centre.

A further adult open singles competition at the Totton & Eling Tennis Centre will be held in the late Summer / early Autumn.

Rebranding

As you may have noticed, the Totton & Eling Tennis Centre is currently going through a rebranding exercise including fresh and original logo designs, a facelift for the website and exciting new marketing literature. The project has only been possible due to the unbelievable work of tennis centre member, Andy King, who has undertaken the whole exercise in his personal time and without charging the tennis centre for his services. We extend our heart-felt thanks to Andy and his company Catalyst Design & Marketing.

British Tennis Membership

All of our members are entitled to a free subscription to British Tennis, the LTA's new membership scheme. This scheme will supercede all existing memberships, including Advantage Club, and thus every single Totton & Eling member should sign up whether currently an LTA subscriber or not. The form takes less than 30 seconds to fill out. In the future LTA benefits such as Wimbledon Ticket ballots will only be open to British Tennis members, therefore, it really is worth signing up. And don't forget that it is totally free!

Further details and an online sign up form can be found here.
