Schools Outreach Work
Curriculum-Time Coaching
During each academic year, we work with 9 local primary schools within the Toynbee School-Sport Partnership to deliver a Year 2 & 3 curriculum-time schools programme. All children in the year group receive 3 or 4 weeks of tennis coaching and by the end, almost all will be capable of rallying and most will be playing points.
At the end of the schools delivery, all children are offered a subsidised route into regular group coaching at the Fleming Park Tennis Centre.
As well as creating an atmosphere of inclusion and teaching many children who thought that they would not be able to play tennis to do so, we do carry out regular talent identification and create subsidised dedicated performance squads.
The most talented children are introduced to the Eastleigh Tennis Academy.
During the school year, we will see around 1600 Year 2 & 3 children during curriculum time coaching and tournaments.
We also work closely with local secondary schools and deliver curriculum coaching to children in Years 7 & 8. This equates to a further 200 children each year.
Schools Tournaments
Throughout the Summer months, the Fleming Park Tennis Centre plays host to a number of inter-school tournaments at the centre. Teams from local schools in Years 3-6 are represented and compete to find the local champion school. Our coaches also visit local schools to provide whole-school tournaments on-site.
